Behind the Macro Paradise
At kilometer marker 82.5k on Provincial Highway 2 along Taiwan's Northeast Coast, heading toward Longdong,
lies Taiwan divers' ultimate macro paradise.
Countless underwater photography masters have praised this dive site as a match for the world's finest macro destinations.
Yet beneath all that acclaim,
how much marine debris lies quietly along the shoreline,
waiting — perhaps for a decade or more...
Divers can pick up any trash they spot after every dive,
quietly showing their love for the ocean in small ways.
But those who take the initiative to organize beach cleanups and ocean cleanup events deserve our full support.
After all, planning these activities takes enormous energy and effort —
and sometimes even a personal financial sacrifice.
A little encouragement from you can outweigh the endless negativity of a million keyboard critics.
Dive instructor Music Lin 林音樂 (我是潛水教練) shares in the video:
A beach cleanup is not the best or ultimate answer to the marine debris problem.
But the hope is that, through organizing these events again and again,
people will become aware of how to start reducing plastic in their everyday lives.
Only by addressing the problem at its source do we have a real chance of changing the ocean.
The ocean changes because I dive.
