In the transition from late winter to early spring, as the chill gradually fades, the rocky reef shores of northern Taiwan are often blanketed by an abundance of sea lettuce, painting the entire intertidal zone in lush shades of green. Most sea lettuce thalli take on a thin, sheet-like form; however, as the weather grows warmer, more and more slender Enteromorpha (gut weed) begin to appear among the green algal beds. By the height of summer, these green algae gradually die back. Hidden within this seasonally fleeting carpet of green, many herbivores that love to graze on algae make their home — let's get to know them together through this marine habitat and micro-education video!
