Diving gear is available for rent. Everything is new and fully set up. Sometimes I want to bring my family to do a dive trip with me. Considering the facility and environment, I give up the option quite often. It's not the case in Romblon Beach Resort. The resort is just fine for a birthday celebration or propose. Trust me, the arrangement would be safe. The photos taken here would receive lots of likes for Internet celebrities. For travel light, the diving gears are able to rent.

The overall atmosphere gives you a wonderfully relaxed, leisurely feeling. The rooms and bathrooms are large enough to spread out all your dive gear and camera equipment. The sockets inside the rooms strike a nice balance between aesthetics and practicality — no adapters needed, and USB ports are included as well. Plenty of space. The whole resort is huge. I feel very relax. The space in the room and bathroom are big enough to gear up the diving gears and camera sets. The number of sockets in the room nicely balance between nice looking and functional. The sockets are designed for all countries and there are also USB sockets.
4. Attentive Service — Internal Communication at the Dive Shop Is Thorough and the Staff Are Warm and Considerate
Everything was ready and waiting at our room upon arrival. Staples of Southeast Asian dive resorts — help with gearing up and rinsing equipment — are all provided. What really impressed me was that, even though dive gear tends to look quite similar, the staff somehow remembered whose equipment belonged to whom when they returned it to our rooms after drying. And even though I hadn't mentioned it was my birthday, they found out first thing in the morning. Nice service. The communication internal is well organized and so does the service quality. Everything was all set up when we arrived. I was quite surprised that they did remember everyone's gear when gears were brought back to our room. I thought all gears looked the same... Also, I didn't mention it was my birthday, but they knew it...
5. Genuinely Fresh Water — Not the Slightly Salty Kind
Romblon Beach Resort treats and purifies all its own water, so it is truly fresh water — not a hint of saltiness. You'll feel completely clean after a shower, even after a full week of diving, with no irritation or allergic reactions. The water in the pool and the water used to rinse gear are also completely fresh. Super freshwater. Resort purified water on their own. Thus, water is very fresh and not salty. After the shower, the body feels nice like in the home. The water in the pool and to clean up gear are all not salty.
6. A Dedicated Camera Room
This is huge! The camera room at Romblon Beach Resort is spacious and loaded with sockets. You can also rent different camera models on-site, ranging from the Olympus TG series and Sony RX series all the way up to full-sized rigs. All the resort owners are accomplished underwater photographers, so you can pick their brains whenever you have questions — that alone is a tremendous bonus. Camera room. It is very important that my baby camera has its own room and own space. The Camera room in Romblon Beach Resort has lots of space and plenty of sockets. There are different type of camera to rent, such as Olympus TG sets, Sony RX sets and up to big cameras. All the owners in the resort are professional photographers. It is also a nice experience to learn lessons from them.
7. Delicious Food
The chefs adjust the menu and flavours to suit guests from different backgrounds, and they never repeat the same dishes. There are plenty of places where I've thought I could do better myself — this is absolutely not one of them. The cooks here are 500 times better than me. The resort also posts plenty of food photos on its website. They even baked me a birthday cake from scratch, and the whipped cream was absolutely incredible. My birthday wish to lose weight was over before it started. GOOD FOOD. The cooks change menu and favour by guests and try to do different dishes every meal. There are many places provide food that I think I can do better. It's not the case here. The cooks are 500 times better than I do. They post many of the food phots on their website as well. They also made me a cake. The cream was just fine that my birthday wish - to lose weight is not going to happen...

Sandy shore dives can sometimes be a real slog because of the soft ground underfoot. At Romblon Beach Resort, even at low tide, the house reef entry is less than 30 seconds away — you're in the water almost before you know it. Easy shore dive. The house reef of Romblon beach resort is so short that even during low tide it no need to walk more than 30 seconds to get into the water.

10. Strong Crisis Management and Quick Response
This is actually the main reason I decided to write this post. Our group was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic — a perfect storm of setbacks. First, all flights from Taiwan to the Philippines were suspended; then Manila went into lockdown. We were at the resort when the press conference broke the news. The dive shop not only kept a close eye on local developments but also helped us enormously in arranging transport out of the Philippines. Throughout the entire ordeal, the resort's attitude was reassuring and trustworthy. Risk management and quick response. This is actually the main reason that I do a post for them. Affected by the CoronaVirus, there were two big crisis that we faced. A. All Taiwan airlines were banned to travel to the Philippines. B. The Manila lockdown took placed on the 12th of March. It was our first day of diving when the Press confluence released the news. Romblon beach resort provided us with the first-hand local news in time and helped us to rearrange the transportation. The way that they deal with the situation was really reliable and powerful.

Getting There
If there is one drawback, it is simply that Romblon is quite remote. From Taipei, it took roughly 13 hours to reach Romblon Beach Resort: 2.2 hours from Taipei to Manila, then a shuttle between Terminal 1 and Terminal 4, a 1-hour-25-minute flight to Tablas airport, a 1.5-hour car ride to the port, then an hour by boat to Romblon town (where, due to COVID-19 regulations, we had to check in and have our temperatures taken), and finally a short outrigger boat ride to the resort. On the return journey, we caught the overnight ferry from Romblon island, boarding at 8:00 pm and arriving in Batangas at 5:00 am the following morning, then a 3-hour drive back to Manila airport. For travellers flying from Taipei, we recommend flying in and taking the ferry on the way back — the connections work out more smoothly that way.

The ship has private four-person rooms with en-suite bathrooms as well as open dormitory-style bunks accommodating hundreds of passengers. We strongly recommend having the resort book your ferry tickets rather than purchasing online yourself. When the Manila lockdown was announced, Romblon Beach Resort immediately helped us switch to the earliest possible departure — we were told that tickets purchased online could not be changed.
One lesson we learned from this experience: always buy your flights directly on the airline's official website. On the night of 12 March, the moment we heard lockdown was imminent, we jumped straight onto the website and changed our tickets, then headed to the airport early to standby for the 10:45 departure. Group members who hadn't booked through the official site had a far harder time of it. How to get there. The only disadvantage is that Romblon is so remote. I spent almost 13 hours from Taipei to Romblon Beach resort. It took 2.2 hours from Taipei to Manila, then hopped on the shuttle bus to change terminal from 1 to 4, then a 1.25-hours flight from Manila to Tablas, then a 1.5-hour car ride, then an hour boat trip to Romblon island to check-in and check body temperature (new rule due to the CoronaVirus) then eventually a small boat to get to the resort. As for the return, we caught to evening ship at 8:00 from Romblon and got to Batangas at 5:00 am the next morning. Then a 3-hours ride back to the airport. There are private rooms with bathroom and hundreds of open bunk beds. I personally recommend having the resort book for you instead of to book on the internet on your own. Because of Manila lockdown, Romblon Beach Resort helped us to change the earliest departure. It is said that people purchase through the internet were not able to change their ticket schedule.

I want to sign up for a dive trip. Are there certification-level or logged-dive requirements?
Each dive site is different, so the entry bar varies. 'Bali Tulamben', for instance, is relatively beginner-friendly. 'Malapascua in the Philippines' is also beginner-friendly, but since thresher sharks tend to cruise between 20 and 30 metres, we recommend AOW certification with 20+ logged dives to enjoy this trip comfortably. For 'the Maldives' or 'Palau', we suggest AOW with 50+ logged dives for a more relaxed experience. If you're not sure whether your experience fits the trip you want, message us and our dive editors will assess it and help you find the trip you'll feel safest on.
Can I join if I'm signing up alone? How are rooms arranged?
Plenty of our travellers sign up solo! For rooms and beds, we prioritise pairing you with a same-gender traveller, and if you'd rather have your own space you can pay the difference to upgrade to a single room. For the diving, our professional leader will pair you with a suitable buddy, and with the happy vibe on our trips you'll quickly make a great group of dive friends. Many people sign up alone, make new friends, and end up organising the next trip together!
Does the trip fee include dive insurance, gear rental, taxes and instructor tips?
It depends on the trip, the destination's regulations and the local operators. Every BlueTrend dive trip has a detailed web page with a clear 'included / not included' list, transparent and with no hidden charges. All payments are collected by a licensed travel agency, with a standard-form contract for your protection.
I'm a new diver / haven't dived in a long time — will I fall behind the group?
Before you complete your booking, our team assesses a suitable trip based on your certification level and experience. Before departure, we strongly recommend taking time to refresh in Taiwan with an instructor, or a fun dive to get your feel back. On the trip itself, our professional dive leader groups and pairs everyone by experience, keeps a close eye underwater on travellers who need extra care, and steps in to help right away.
Will the photos and videos taken during the trip be shared with us?
During the dives, 'safety' is always the leader's top priority, so whenever it's suitable and safe the leader will capture great shots and record the best moments. During or after the trip, we compile a cloud album for all travellers to download, so you go home loaded with memories!
