DRT SHOW Taiwan 2019 International Dive & Resort Travel Exhibition
The 2019 Taiwan International Dive & Resort Travel Exhibition (DRT SHOW Taiwan 2019) concluded successfully on June 2 at the Taipei Yuanshan Expo Dome. Over the course of three days, the show offered a wealth of activities for visitors to join and experience, including: professional diving seminars, an ocean culture market, an Ocean Guardian challenge course, a Top 100 Rising Stars underwater photography gallery, a children's zone, an ocean film and video theater, ocean installation art, ocean craft workshops, a low-plastic light-food zone, lucky draws, a new product showcase area, and photo check-in spots, among others.

As Taiwan's only international professional dive expo, the show is not aimed solely at diving enthusiasts — the organizers have always sought to reach a far broader and more diverse audience. This year, they introduced even more innovative programming, such as underwater photography and videography, travel, marine conservation, crafts, and a creative cultural market. This rich variety of exhibitors, topics, and activities brought a host of fresh elements to the show, attracting not only divers but also members of the public with an interest in water activities or environmental issues.

According to official statistics, visitor numbers grew by 20% in 2019, with a total of 33,560 attendees from across Asia and around the world over the three-day event. In addition, the number of trade buyers and media representatives also grew significantly — figures that offer a glimpse into the unlimited potential of Taiwan's diving market and signal an opportunity that investors simply cannot afford to ignore.

In addition to the many activities on offer, visitors could also discover hundreds of leading domestic and international dive brands on the show floor.
A wide range of dive training systems were also represented by various dive shops, offering instruction tailored to visitors' learning goals and certification levels, including: AIDA (freediving agency), DIWA, MFI, NAUI (certification agency), PADI (certification agency), SSI (certification agency), SDI (certification agency), and TDI (certification agency). Diving, of course, extends well beyond scuba diving — training providers on the floor each offered their own specialist disciplines, including: scuba diving, freediving, technical diving, mermaiding, underwater photography courses, adaptive diving, and dive therapy. Visitor satisfaction surveys confirmed that the diverse training services offered by participating dive shops genuinely met the full range of attendees' learning and certification needs.
For visitors — whether already certified divers or well on their way to becoming master divers — the show also provided a direct opportunity to consult with participating tourism boards, dive centers, and resorts about travel packages in various destinations. DRT SHOW Taiwan was honored to welcome the Philippine Department of Tourism, the Indonesia Tourism Board, the Marianas Visitors Authority, and the Yap Visitors Bureau to this year's event. Each tourism board brought along local dive shops, resorts, and hospitality operators, offering highly professional on-site information on local travel, itinerary planning, budgeting, dive site introductions, and package deals.

In recent years, as environmental awareness has grown around the world, marine conservation has become a cause the DRT SHOW organizers take very seriously — one they hope the show's platform can help bring to public attention. This year, as in the previous year, the Ocean Guardian Challenge was held, combining the strength of NGOs with the platform DRT SHOW provides to co-create a series of imaginative and genuinely fun challenge activities. Using different marine conservation themes and engaging game-style stages, visitors received relevant conservation information as they progressed through the challenges, naturally developing a sense of care and awareness for ocean protection. Through the Ocean Guardian Challenge program, participants could enjoy the excitement of the course while learning along the way — and as the organizer of a professional dive exhibition, conveying the values of marine conservation through entertainment and education is very much a core responsibility.
Congratulations are also in order for the approximately 2,500 visitors who successfully completed all of the challenge stages to become certified Ocean Guardians. The organizers would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Greenpeace / 財團法人綠色和平基金會, Sea Turtle Roll Call, the Taiwan Environmental Information Association, the Cetacean Society of Taiwan, the Ocean Conservation Administration of the Ocean Affairs Council, and the Taiwan Sea Turtle Conservation Society for their enthusiastic participation in the Ocean Guardian Challenge program.

At the Taiwan International Dive & Resort Travel Exhibition, visitors could do far more than purchase and learn about the latest diving equipment, find quality dive training providers and dive shops, plan a high-value overseas dive vacation, experience ocean eco-friendly craft workshops in person, shop to their hearts' content at the ocean creative market, take on challenges to become an Ocean Guardian, and enjoy viewing hundreds of underwater photography works and videos in the gallery. DRT SHOW Taiwan also prepared approximately 40 expert seminars covering a wide range of diving-related topics, giving visitors the chance to connect, share, and exchange ideas with speakers up close.

The Taiwan International Dive & Resort Travel Exhibition is not merely a successful B2B2C trade exhibition — it is an organizer dedicated to the diving market and committed to creating the must-attend annual event for the diving community.
Over three days, the show welcomed a total of 33,560 visitors — opening in grand fashion and closing on a perfect note. Next year, DRT SHOW Taiwan International Dive & Resort Travel Exhibition will return to the Taipei Yuanshan Expo Dome on May 29–31, 2020. See you there!
