The Cradle of Divers – Taiwan's Northeast Coast
Taiwan's Northeast Coast, affectionately known as the cradle of Taiwan's divers, has seen countless divers earn their very first dive certification in these waters every year — their golden ticket to getting up close with the ocean. While the general impression of the Northeast Coast tends to be poor visibility and a destination suited mainly for training, the reality underwater tells a very different story.
The Northeast Coast dive zone is vast, encompassing well-known spots such as Wanghai Bay, 82-5k, Longdong, Mao'ao Bay, and the Gongliao area. The underwater ecosystem here is remarkably rich, and its soft coral distribution along with its macro marine life have earned it the nickname "macro paradise" from professional underwater photographer Marco — better known by his nickname, the Gold Medalist. This time, we invited the Gold Medalist Marco to share with us just how dazzlingly vibrant the Northeast Coast looks through the lens of his camera!
