Asia's largest diving event — ADEX Ocean Festival Singapore 2025 — wrapped up on April 6, drawing diving enthusiasts from around the world over its three-day run. The Taiwan Tourism Bureau's Singapore office set up a dedicated "Taiwan Pavilion" at the show, using underwater photography to showcase Taiwan's diverse diving scene and promote a new travel concept that combines dive travel with urban sightseeing.

Situated at the intersection of tropical and subtropical zones, and shaped by the Kuroshio Current and northeast monsoon, Taiwan's underwater ecosystems and seascapes reflect the same cultural blend found on land — a unique fusion of Southeast and Northeast Asian characteristics. To give visitors a deeper understanding of Taiwan's diving environment, the Tourism Bureau organised 13 dive-site sharing sessions and speaker exchanges at the Taiwan Pavilion. Renowned Taiwanese underwater photographers Yorko Summer and 京太郎, along with technical diving operator Phil, presented breathtaking underwater imagery introducing dive destinations including the Northeast Coast, Green Island, Kenting, Xiaoliuqiu, and Penghu. Both the Chinese- and English-language sessions were packed to capacity, and the lively Q&A exchanges and enthusiastic enquiries from attendees underscored the immense potential of Taiwan's diving industry.

Beyond its diverse dive sites, Taiwan boasts a convenient transportation network that makes it easy to connect dive destinations with urban sightseeing areas. Travellers can effortlessly weave city visits into their dive itinerary, experiencing local culture, cuisine, and natural scenery — the perfect Dive Trip & City Trip all in one. Furthermore, with Chinese as Taiwan's primary language, visitors from Chinese-speaking regions face virtually no language barriers, making travel communication stress-free and adding yet another advantage to Taiwan's appeal as a dive tourism destination.
Creative Stamp-Rally Draws Crowds to the Taiwan Pavilion
To boost engagement and interaction, the Taiwan Pavilion introduced a themed stamp-rally activity featuring six specially designed stamps, each depicting iconic images from Taiwan's dive sites and underwater celebrities — including sea turtles, shipwrecks, steel reefs, coral, tropical fish, and nudibranch. Visitors lined up eagerly to collect all six stamps; upon completion, they received a one-of-a-kind dive cool card and the chance to take home a dive computer or professional regulator set from a Taiwanese brand. From the very first day of the show, hundreds of children and adults joined in enthusiastically, with participants from around the world flooding the Taiwan Pavilion and generating enormous buzz and visibility for Taiwan.

Throughout the three-day event, the Taiwan Pavilion continued to attract visitors seeking information on dive itineraries and tourism offerings, demonstrating the enormous potential of Taiwan's dive tourism market. Taiwan not only boasts abundant marine resources, but also the convenience of urban connectivity and the advantage of a shared language. Questions raised during on-site consultations — about underwater ocean cleanup activities, Xiaoliuqiu's "Liuqiu Cup," coral restoration projects, and more — also showed that Taiwan's efforts to promote sustainable tourism are gaining real visibility. Going forward, Taiwan will continue working towards establishing itself as Asia's premier dive tourism destination, with sustainability at its core. The Tourism Bureau's Singapore office will deepen its promotional efforts, expand the "blue ocean business opportunity," and invite more diving enthusiasts to explore Taiwan and plunge into its beautiful seas!
